Winter Solstice on the Farm
Winter Solstice is normally a time we are anxiously waiting for, the middle of winter is a time to look forward to the longer days and gradually getting warmer, but we have had a very mild winter so far, with only a handful of frosts, is winter over or is the cold yet to come??
The day was spent with Watershed Landcare as we worked on a gully restoration project, Cam Wilson was our teacher and the host property was “Havilah” near Lue N.S.W.
The weather was very kind to us all as we participated in various methods of slowing erosion and helping the land regenerate its water course.
This was topped off with a great picnic BBQ lunch and the chance to mingle with likeminded people.
My day wasn’t over yet, a very quick drive home and get the fire going inside and I decided to have a “Bone Fire” outside later that night, I had been pushing up stumps through the summer, so it was ready to go.
All in all it was a very good day, a break from this hectic time of year.
